I've never been on a JB flight...I'll have to take one from Richmond to NYC this year for new years celebrations...

That article is a little misleading. Both USAirways and Delta fly their shuttle service from LGA. JetBlue doing it from JFK is not really much competition. It may benefit people who live nearer to JFK, but most people flying the shuttle are going into the city for business and LGA is closer.

It looks to me as if JetBlue is losing the plot. Flying small jets on shuttle type runs is okay, but those other cities mentioned are all long haul type flying ( at least as far as RJs are concerned ). JetBlue would be wiser to find markets that are in the one hour to one and half hour range for these jets. The EMB-190 is a nice airplane, but it is still small. People don't want to ride on small airplanes for much longer than an hour and a half.

I really thought they would be looking at more cities in upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and other areas of the Northeast for these jets. They could draw a lot of traffic from some of those communities.

I disagree with the E190 being a "small jet". It is really close to the A318s being used by USAir. Maybe you are right about the JFK vs LGA thing, but not everyone lives in Manhattan, not everyone goes to work and then to the airport. I know alot of business individuals who live on Long Island and save time by flying out of JFK and leaving from home.
As far as the E190 flying shorter haul trips, true but I think it is a great idea that JB will place a more economical aircraft on the new cities until it is proven that they can fill an A320! I wouldn't expect JB to keep the E190 on BOS-AUS and JFK-BOS very long.
Lastly, the E190 is a brand new, "unproven" aircraft. I bet that JB wants to put time on these aircraft quickly and find the queertrons and querks ASAP.
