Default who is he kidding

Not convinced. For one thing, you are not going to swap out machined aluminum for injection molded plastic and get the same form, performance, fit, or durability. Second this compares a 2 cell lithium against a 3 cell, so it is not a fair comparison. Third, the SF has a durable momentary click-type tail switch. Fourth, the SF has a reflector that cannot dislodge and cant off center like cheap flashlights. Fifth, the SF has anodized coating it's not paint and it lasts accordingly. Sixth, the bexels are Lexan on the SF which has a far superior shock resistance than clear polystyrene. Seventh the SF is waterproof to 30 meters. Eight the SF can withstand 200F without deformation. Nine- this is boring and it's no contest. Also, if you really can't afford a SF there are low-end dive lights that are a better value.

Seems like it would be durable enough to survive a walkaround...

If you were worried about the flashlight actually melting at 200F, wouldn't you have bigger problems?

Cubdriver, you're right about the durability and other things, but you miss the point- this modded flashlight is brighter than the hardy SureFire for considerably less money.

Disclaimer: I currently have a SureFire, and I love it

Default time for...

Someone get the pancake bunny.

I have been all through this topic and refuse to say any more. After I bought that overpriced high intensity discharge diving light they used to sell with the 8 D-cells that's all I can take.

Very interesting. I wonder how long the bulb would last with 9 volts shoved in to it. I posted this site last year.

It is worth another look. I'd love to his take on the modification.
