Same speed and fuel as a 172, but can carry a load of almost 1200 lbs. A 172 will NEVER do that for the same fuel burn. Insurance is a plus also, check it out. Also the market is for resale, if need be is good. Anyone who has flown a 182 will agree it is a good investment. Note, prior to 1976 it should be STC auto fuel complient, should avgas get unreasonable.

My in-laws are in the Mooney business, so if I bought something else I'd get in big trouble.:D

A Thunder Mustang...
... any idea if the kits are back in production? |
Not sure...but those things are insane. I saw a couple of them at the Arlington Fly-In last year, and they were awesome.

Last I knew about the thunder mustang it crashed and killed the lead test pilot and a potential buyer.
There is an aircraft called the legend that is a composite mustang with a turbine engine and tricycle gear. They were built in Deland FL last I knew |
A 1973-1978 Cessna Turbo 210................. And keep my Comanche 250............

google "Thunder Mustang". There was a group in Lawrence, KS that had made the deal to buy the rights, had tooling, etc. They gave up or ran out of financing or something. I went to visit them once - had a Thunder Mustang being built - what an awesome machine. Not sure why the prototype crashed, but I do not believe it was the fault of the airplane. I always wondered how the engine reliability over a long-term would be. To me, the thing that "makes" the airplane is the 750 HP Falconer v-12
