Buying an airplane
If you could buy an airplane what kind would you buy? Cessna? Piper? Mooney? Beechcraft?

I seem to remember another thread like this not too long ago. Are we talking any and all planes? Or just light singles and twins?

C-182, P model carries a good load, 4 real pax, full fuel. Simple systems, NO fuel pumps, fixed gear, reansonable speed( 144 kt) 13 gph , reduce the power to 60%,120kts,10 gph. Same speed and fuel as a 172, but can carry a load of almost 1200 lbs. A 172 will NEVER do that for the same fuel burn. Insurance is a plus also, check it out. Also the market is for resale, if need be is good. Anyone who has flown a 182 will agree it is a good investment. Note, prior to 1976 it should be STC auto fuel complient, should avgas get unreasonable.

Glasair III. Or perhaps a Lancair IV-P.

I thought about getting a fraction of a Cherokee a while back, but I can rent them for peanuts where I am. There is a super cheap 172K, a super spiffy 172P, several 152s all for rent, so why bother. If I had my loans paid off I would consider a plane I could teach in like a 172N. If I won the lottery, a Columbia or Ovation.
