What is it about June? The last record was June 7th of last year, at 477.

Too damn hot outside, so everyone is inside soaking up the rays from the 'puter screen.

It's great to see all the new users over the last year, this forum IS growing!

A few quick stats & info:

We're registering users in the 11,500 range (profile numbers) although the site says around 7600. This is because we delete accounts (read the TOS) that don't have any activity during the previous 365 days. So, 7600 ACTIVE users over the last year is something we're happy with! We don't want to highlite the number of registrations as it doesn't infer how active the forum really is. You'll see huge user number rolls on other forums but it really doesn't tell you anything about activity levels.

Total number of users online:

The APC forum shows a much lower rate of "users online" than other forums because we "timeout" users on the server for this count after about 10 minutes. So the number you see here is really a 10 minute moving window of users. Yesterdays "record" of 588 users didn't represent a huge increase in daily visitors (10,132 uniques) although it was unusual to see so many online in the 10 minute moving window that the number represents.

Some ask: if you can adjust the timeout on the server to show active users - why not increase the time-out to make the user-base look huge? Well, if we were chasing advertisers it might be tempting - we know other forums do this and make it look as if the user base is MUCH larger than it really is. However, we don't chase advertising and we like to have an accurate view of demand without running database queries.

Over all, the forum is doing exactly what we want it do, and that is provide credible, timely, and accurate information in a community setting built on professionalism and respect. Of course we have our moderation challenges that's a by-product of allowing anonymous users, but overall we're very pleased to host so many aviation professionals.

So here's to you Mr. APC forum user guy........

Congratulations,

Off subject but do not see a question to the masters thread.

Is it possible to put a <<Previous Thread | Next Thread>> link at the top of a page too? I set my number of posts to the max and scrolling on my laptop is a pain.

FDXLAG, not without modifying the underlying code of the vBulletin software that runs this forum.

Have you tried different display modes to see which one works best for you?

I use the default view on my desktop, although I use the threaded view mode on my laptop for the same reason that you mentioned.

Check it out just under the main nav bar on top on the right DISPLAY MODE. Note that you can only see this view option in the POST view and not the THREAD or FORUM view. If you find one you like you set it as default in your user preferences.
