Default Conspiracy

Recent events have come to light that a past employer has been habitually writing hate mail whenever asked for a reference by an HR department. Over the years he has destroyed over a dozen careers out of spite. Each pilot faithfully served for years and tendered a resignation with weeks of lead time. With a smile and a handshake he wished us all the best of luck with our endeavors only to stab us in the back years later when the big day came with our dream airline. There are actions afoot to put together a law suit as more stories of ruined careers come out of the wood work. A few have even been able to receive copies of the letters. I am still unsure how to proceed. I am way past being able to save my career hopes, but by throwing my hat in the ring I could perhaps save someone else's. What should I do?

I'm not sure word conspiracy is the word I'd use as much as slander or liable. If the person writing the letters is still employed by your former employer, and there is no derogatory record of service on your part, I think I'd ask the advice of a lawyer on this one.

Good Luck

A lot of companies nowadays will only confirm dates of employment. This is done to prevent lawsuits from former employees.

Well this thing is heating up by the minute so it seems more likely that legal action is coming.

Do it for those who may face the same thing down the road if nothing is done about it! Best of luck to you in your decision.
