They should have done it when they had the chance, even if they couldn't get Embraer Defense.

Sounds like a distracting management challenge.

They should probably just focus on building planes the way they're supposed to. Although maybe the people in Sao Paulo know more about that then boeing's C-suite finance charlatans. Probably do.

For F*ck sake, can't they just clean up their own mess for the next 5 years. Feds should NEVER even think about allowing this until every single mid-upper level manager is tossed out the door and engineers run the place again like they did before the Mcdonnel Douglas merger.

Except they have a dearth of trained engineers - let alone engineers who know how to manage. Not having designed any new aircraft for decades they were reliant on their older engineers for engineering experience with acquired management experience having done project after project with contracted personnel - essentially rental engineers that they could easily release when they decided to not actually build the next proposed big project and simply play around the margins with new winglets and such on an aircraft design that first flew 57 years ago. Then came COVID when they incentivized the early retirement of their most experienced and knowledgeable cadre of the few engineers with experience they still retained.

The rest, as the saying goes, is history. Or maybe tragedy. The story isn't finished yet.
