Too sexy Too sexy!

If you look closely underneath the nose, you can see that this plane is equipped with the EVS (Enhanced Vision System). Projects an image of whats ahead of the airplane onto the HUD. Pretty slick.

Though I thought that the EVS was only offered on the new G550, but apparently I was mistaken!

If wikipedia is correct the difference is 420nm in favor of the 777-200LR. Performance calculations are based on proprietary data made available by the manufacturer, and thrust to drag ratios are generally kept secret. A small advantage in T/D is a big secret. Manufacturers are eager to produce good performance figures but are reluctant to falsify the results. If they say range is such and such, you can take it as gospel. What they don't want you to know is how they actually did it. Making a superior airplane is mostly the problem of how to reduce drag. Millions of dollars are spent on every new airliner for this very purpose.

I was in Toronto the other day and an A340 was going non-stop to Sydney. My jaw dropped when he got his clearance.
