I read an article the other day saying that the industry is forecasting that the airlines will hire 50,000 pilots over the next 10-12 years or something like that. I'll see if I can find it again.

There are people who were awarded CA positions this bid that can't hold it. Don't let that be you. There are people in my class, some that are senior to me and some that are junior, that if awarded a CA slot at 1.5yrs they won't be able to hold it unless they go pay for flying somewhere else. All those speeches they gave me about getting in as quickly as possible just went out the window.

While that's not the ideal situation, it's not necessarily a bad thing, either, since such folks are continuing to build seniority, and will jump straight into good captain lines when they are able to make the jump. I think CFI'ing for a while is definitely a good thing, but if you have a good career opportunity come along, you should take it.
