Does Avidyne have a different definition for AHRS? Garmin and Embraer call it Attitude and Heading Reference System, not what the original poster stated.

They are probably different due to the different manufacturers. Not as familiar with the Avidyne. Not a big fan either.

Why not? Just out of curiosity. Though I have never flown a G1000 equiped aircraft, I do have about 300 hrs with the Avidyne system, thought it was pretty spiffy.

I like the fact that the G1000 has an integrated GPS instead of feeding off two GNS 430s. The other thing is the ease of transitioning to a G1000 if you've used any Garmin before. As long as you know how to fly instruments already (i.e. scan and interpret) the transition is simple.

The Avidyne system only needs one G430. One thing that I have heard about the G1000, which I really like, is that it has Jep plates loaded into it, for no extra cost. The Avidyne system has it too, as an upgrade for a monthly fee ($$$$$).
