That's an amazing story. I'd love to hear those guys give a presentation sometime on the whole experience.

Capt. Haynes (ret United) and his crew definately deserve a lot of credit for this incident and many others since with the concept of TOC. I actually have had the chance to shoot a mock approach in a king air (at alt of course), using only throttles and elev trim. It was not that hard after a few minutes to fly level, make turns, and then hold a 3 degree or so glide slope. I hope to never have to use that kind of technique, but its somewhat comforting knowing its possible if need be.
