Yeah I assume a landing gear failure too. The description didn't make too much sense...snowstorm an hour out, left the gear down due to possible icing??? Then 'accidentally' raised the landing gear after takeoff and forgot to lower it? Kind of reminds me of the fabled story.
ATC: Cessna XXXXX, go around, you gear is not down.
Cessna: Say again, I can't hear you over this loud horn.
ATC: Cessna XXXXX, go around, you gear is not down.

As far as I'm concerned, they are morons if that story is true, and a Pink Slip would've been issued prior to the plane ever being started. Possible Icing in a C-182, hmmmmm......And a checkride, I don't buy it. Something about his "story" isn't right.
