how long has it been since AA hired. We have several reservists at our base who are distinguished fighter pilots and have been FOs on md80's for a while. What's preventing more hiring/promotions at the majors?

I'm pretty sure AA is just now starting to recall the 2,174 furloughs 30 per month. That's going to take a while.

Yea I was talking to one of the Senior management folks for AA at my station (BNA), from what I can tell, they plan on upping the 30 a month to 60. Simply because of the age 65 rule, alot of pilots are talkingbout retireing at 60, which would mean AA would not have enough pilots to fly all the routes. Also, she mentioned some sort of flow through being opened up in the near future for the senior AE captains that have AA employees numbers... Just a small tidbit of info I found out today at the water cooler.

AAL... I agree with getting started now. Mow lawns, walk dogs, wash planes, whatever it takes to set some cash to get flight time. My parents told me at 22 (when I got my PPL) that had I spent my own money on a few flight lessons at 15, they would've covered the rest.

My how that would change my life...

Yes they are... However, The super, is being replaces by the 737. You can already see the shiney new 73's come rolling in. The last time I heard anythign bout that was 3 months ago, and they were talking some time mid 09' as the time frame. AA already has the planes, it just takes time to get the crews trained and moved from the older 80's to the newer 73's....

In time we shall see.

Also, Some more news:

As most of you know, YX has stopped flight service for Midwest Connect, and Sky West (oo i think) has picked up said routes. AE, has picked up contracts to service Skywest (Operating under a variety of colors Midwest, United, etc etc) and Air Canada.

There is also big talk from the higher ups at my station about selling off all of the CRJ 7's and replacing them with EMB 175 or 190's.

This all has to do with AE being spun off of AA of course. And, in my humble but usually correct opinion, is a mere hoax to get rid of the scope clause.

Financially speaking, It makes more sence for AA to drop the old MD80, and fly cheaper a/c with the same or near same capacity. This spells bad news for AA pilots, so of course they are bucking it with all their might... Of course it is great news for AE, because now our pilots have something more to look forward besides the wonderfull ERJ's we fly now. Not to mention the highest paid eagle CA will make about 1/2 or less than the Highest Paid AA CA.

So who knows... Back in college I was always told in my Economics classes to follow the dollar. This holds true in this case aswell.
