Kind of scary when you think about it...

Long story short, the 727 picked up people in the cargo hold and holding onto the rear stairs. About double the pax, could only fly at 10k for pressurization, and a grenade started a fuel leak moments before the takeoff roll.

Definately a wing and a prayer...and Ive heard its still flying for UPS

What a desperate and horrible experience that must have been. God bless all the women and children that were left behind to be dealt with at the hands of the North Vietnamese.

There were a number of C-141 / C-130 flights where the Aircraft Commanders "ignored Military Airlift Command procedures" and floor loaded hundreds of Vietnamese men, women children and took them away from the chaos.

There are times when you stick your neck out and risk your career. This was one.
