How do guys/gals unwind from a trip?
 

Hey fellas, just curious what you guys do to unwind. For me I get home say hello to my g/f, but don't really engage in conversation becuase I need at least 1-2hrs in complete solitude :). Ill grab a beer (Sam Adams Summer Ale as of late), throw on the TV, strip off the uniform, bust out the laptop and do emails, come on here :) f;ip through the channels. After about 2 hrs I am ok, but does anyone else get very irritated when people want to talk to you/bother you as soon as you get home from a trip..................

Ya I definitely need some solitude after getting home. My fiance always wants to talk too and ask questions and I just don't want to deal with it. So I usually end up laying down to read a little or just watching tv. Sometimes I feel like I need the rest of the day to unwind and get myself back to reality.

I don't live with anyone. And since Im a commuter, I either get home really late at night or early in the morning so the first and usually only thing I want to do is sleep. With that, i unclip my cell phone from my waist and refuse to answer my landline.

Just bought My Bike last weekend....picking it up on saturday : )

No matter how tired I am....I still have energy to play with my dogs for an hour or two

On the bus on the way to the employee lot.... I grab a shirt out of the rollaboard put it on in the car. Stop by a store pick up a 6 or 12pack depending on how bad the trip was..... Get in the house, kick off the shoes, eat dinner that's waitin on me, while I'm eatin she's gettin ready for the show, so after I eat I go get my lady who's usually waitin butt naked in the bedroom. Lay there for about 1-1.5 hours and she listens to my horror story..(although 9-10 she has no clue what the hell I'm talkin about but she listens and makes me feel good).... by then the 6pack is gone and it's time to get it on!!! 4-sometimes 6 dayz without her can be bad on the body, and she understands this. Then the other stuff....TV, Internet, company Memos, catch up on a few chores, and then to bed....

All this talk of sex and beer...whats the best pick-up line anyone has ever used on an overnight? For some reason the WWII "I'm shipping out in the morning and don't know if I'll be back" comes to mind...

Used to have a two-hour drive from base to home...miss that terribly - alone time in my own car after a four-day is huge. Now I just have to go home, get out of the monkey-suit (no offense, SAAB!), and hit the road. If the weather is half-way nice, the motorcycle will do as well!

But yeah. A bit of alone time is required. Might be nice to have a g/f to come back home to again though ;)

Oh - and I used to get my drinking in on trips, but learned that on FO pay, you've gotta buy in bulk, so I can only drink at home now LoL

Massage with happy ending is always on the menu. I have a four hour commute so I get my sleep on in the airplane and i'm ready for some interaction with normal people :) not that I don't enjoy talking about airplane stuff all day.

Naked, I like to lay around naked. One time I did this and left the shades open, several hotel guest went blind. ;)

Overnight:

Long Overnight - Get to the room, change and try to go out with or without the crew.

Short Overnight - Wash the face and turn on the TV for the WX for tomorrow. Read another chapter and fall asleep with the lights, TV and iPod on.

Upon arriving home - Open a blue moon, Corona or Colt 45, turn on the guitar amp, plug in and bring the house down! At least until the neighbors complain...

I think its funny how I can sit in the plane all day and feel fine, but if I have to wait for 45 extra minutes in the car for traffic, I think I'm going to loose my FREAKING MIND.

I hear ya! Or better yet, when I'm on the commute home and we're just sitting at the gate, or sitting on the taxiway, it drives me nuts! However, when I'm up front workin the flight, I don't even notice it.

My trips aren't really productive (reserve) so I come home refreshed. I catch up on sleep during trips..

Man I hear you loud and clear there. Some days I just can't wait to get released and take that fricken headset off. Listening to ATC for 8 hours running their mouths in my head gets tiring.

My family has a Bonanza which I can use anytime I want and I used to like to fly it but now going to an airport on a day off is the last thing on my mind. For me getting home kicking off the shoes grabbing a cold one and just sitting on the couch in total quiet is what I like. As for days off its either the Harley or the boat and right now I just can't wait for the water to warm up so I can put the dock in the water.:)

yeah, I dont have a boat or plane, but my current toy is a 400HP (around) 2,800lbs S2000, I seem to blow of a lot of steam with this thing :)

I agree with the drive home thing. I too am 2 hrs from base. It's nice this time of year to clear the mind with some good music and open sunroof. Home late at night, it's enjoy some time on MY couch....during the day I'll usually get on the trail and enjoy the fact I don't have to sit on beat up foam for the next 2 hrs. :)

Depends on how late I finish up. If it's really late, I usually just go to my crashpad and fall asleep. If it's earlier, I will go for a run/bike ride and then eat dinner.

I used to do the beer drinking after getting home as mentioned but I've restricted that to one long overnight per trip and replaced it with exercise. I've lost 30 lbs since the first of the year. I like it better than going to bed with a buzz.

Lets see, I either drink (Rum, preferably Capt. Morgan's), see my girlfriend and/or play guitar hero... any combination of those will do.

I ditto the driving thing. I love just crusing around...looking for a race. Z28 here.

Actually, it depends on what I'm doing for the rest of the day. If I finish early in the morning and am going somewhere that day, I'll go home, unpack and repack my bag, and head back to the airport. After a late finish I come home and go straight to bed. MLB '08 for PS2 is also good.
A lot of you guys seem like crotchety old men. I sure don't have enough problems at work that I need booze and alone time at the end of every trip.
Lastly, I have the feeling that some of you who talk about getting poon all the time probably don't get near as much as you'd like us to think. ;)

Instead of solitude, I like to find out whats going on and get involved with doing something with my buddies right away. Maybe I'm not the the point where work takes so much out of me that I need time to sit alone and reflect... I guess I'm just happy to be home and around family and friends.

Drinking Alone is the last resort. I usually make the quick-turn into "Bar clothes" and meet up with my posse. If it is a weeknight I will settle for some sex with the GF.

i stand on my roof top butt naked. the neighbors don't like it, but its peaceful up there.
