Opec, which has a major vest in the future viability of oil as a commodity that they can sell to subsidize their economies has done study after study and determined that the actual demand for oil should yield prices far closer to $60/barrel... but in the end, the weak dollar, war risk, and other factors are fueling this crazed speculation and many are getting rich on it, so why stop while we're having fun is the attitude? In the end, the free market will right itself, but how long it will take is the question.. I agree, Novemeber, December.. I see a downward slide.

Supply and Demand Economics, Global Demand from China and India's Industrialization, and Past PEAK oil, bottom line any hope of oil dropping significantly is just that HOPE, not going to happen. Alternative fuels and a total change in the American Public mindset is going to have to take place. More public transportation, people will have to move closer to Cities and use subways and busses. Welcome to the real world folks, the current state of the economy is just accelerating things in the U.S. It's a GLOBAL ECONOMY now folks, economist are already talking about tying currency rates to the yen, instead of the dollar. We are no longer the only real players in town, now we are just like every other industrialized nation, paying $4.00 a gallon, it's been happening for decades in other countries and has finally caught up to us. Oil may drop some, but never to the levels we saw years ago. Good luck to us all, because it is going to be a tough Industry to survive in.

I don't think he is a professional pilot, I believe based on his previous posts he is a student pilot. It's amusing that people who have not even graduated thinks they know more than pilots with years of experience.

Man, If I could have gone to school to be a scientist or medical professional instead of plowing the 10's of thousands into training and taking all of those sub-poverty (dues paying) jobs.. things would be a lot better now.

From all indications, oil price right now is artificially jacked up by speculators and increase in demand among other factors and when a business is this lucrative, greed takes over and the oil producing nations will increase production which in turn will burst this bubble. Oil price will either have to come down or the alternative for the advanced nations such as our is to go develop alternative sorce of fuel which in the long run will make oil about as worthless as dirt it came out of.

In the six months that we have witnessed the rapid ascent of oil prices, we just joined the "global economy" and became another "industrialized nation"? That's pretty abrupt. Do you think this rapid run-up in the oil market is justified based solely on demand? I don't buy it. I think speculation is the number one cause for the current state of energy prices and the whole thing is bound to come swinging the other way, either sooner or later...it always does.
