Side gig to make money via the computer.
Ok.. legit question here. Anybody try the paid surveys or have any other ideas to make money from the computer? Between layovers and spending time at home while on my own time I think I should be able to make a bit more money. I am not looking for a "Get rich" scheme but I am looking for something that I can do while bored (long layovers or home when the wife and friends are not around). I can only hang out at the gym soo long and play soo much golf each week. I am thinking something that I spend 12-15 hours a week doing and would hopefully make at least $1K/mo doing, but even that is flexible- just want something worth my time instead of watching TV or doing "honey do" lists.

Check out Guru.com ? Find freelancers at the world?s largest online service marketplace., or other project bidding websites. They require a bit of work and you must have some verifiable skills, but the projects can be quite lucrative if you can complete several at once. Membership is optional, but the benefits are worth it if you can keep a good workload.

I'm not sure how viable it is, but if you're good at art you can check out cafepress. I was thinking of putting a few aviation photo's I took onto coffee mugs, posters, cards, maybe make a calender with my best shots...
If you're good at web design, start a small online business that pretty much sustains itself with you only having to keep up maintenance on the site. A good example of that would be a place like myspace, or airliners.net, where the users pretty much do everything with the owners only NEEDING to go in when something breaks.
Just a few ideas...hopefully they helped a little!

But I digress...
Spare time money, preferably not requiring much interaction...If you were good at craftmanship, you could do a MotoArt-type thing on your days off and then undercut them on the price !
If you're good at taxes, offer to do some friend/coworkers taxes for a little dough.
See if there is anywhere that would pay you to review books/movies/music online (I doubt it, but you never know).
Think about your hobbies and how you could possibly make money off them. As someone else said, ebay is always an option, as is craigslist.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head...

Learn MS Access: Anyone can make drag-and-drop interfaces, but if you learn how to manipulate data using VB then you can probably do freelance work, maybe for small businesses which can't afford commercial software packages.
Web Page Design: This is easier (but that means there is more competition, and some small businesses just do their own) and is can be done drag-and-drop.
The newest versions aof access allow web-style interfaces...if you can do access AND web pages you would probably be in good shape.

I tried the online surveys. When I finally got to the surveys part I was getting .05cents a survey. One survey took me 25mins to complete and I got .05 cents for it. I only got a couple surveys a day that they allowed me. Not worth my time.
