Not a Cub video, but an old good one. Wonder how many touch and goes a Cub could do in a similar situation? Might need some long range fuel tanks though to get out there.

Flew it 1968 - 1971 ; in 2009 it's still the only platform that can carry reconnaissance equipment and two crewmembers to altitudes above 60,000 ft.

I thought those were two big radials at first. Recips at 60,000... not so much

That's awesome that you got to fly them though. Dig out the old pics!

Default U-2 Aircraft Carrier Operations

March 1964 - CIA pilots became carrier qualified in U-2G models. One operational mission (French Nuclear Tests) was flown off the Ranger in May 1964. The U-2R (Video) was flown off the America Nov 21-23, 1967. One Lockheed test pilot and four CIA pilots were qualifed. No operational missions were conducted.

Compressor Inlet Picture


Doesn't seem like there's much room for any engine accessories? Must be aft of compressor section.


Edit: Found some more info, Wiki says it had two Wright J65 turbojets. Looks like a hydromechanical nightmare!
