For any CRJ guys out there (esp. Comair guys)
In one of my aviation safety courses, we are studying Comair 5191 and preparing a presentation to give to Air Wisconsin and maybe even the NTSB about eliminating various links in the chain of events that lead up to the crash. Part of our presentation will be a filmed recreation of the accident in one of the university's 727 simulators.
Obviously, this will require a bit of number crunching to transfer the V-Speeds, weights, etc. over from a CRJ-100 to a 727, and I was hoping some of the 100 guys out there could share what takeoff weight would likely be for a full flight (47 pax plus 3 crew) from LEX to ATL, V-Speeds, power settings, flaps, and anything that would be useful when it comes to takeoff - you get the idea. I assure you that this is strictly for use in our presentation, and you may PM me the information if you feel it would be more secure to do so. Thank you in advance for your help :) |
Try about 49,5000 lbs, Flaps 20, V1 and Vr about 135, and power setting 91%. Seems about right for LEX.

Thanks. Just for the sake of comparison, does 44,000 sound about right for empty weight?

I would like to thank everybody who responded for going out of their way to help! We ran the numbers, and the simulation (I got to fly right seat :D) went exactly as we hoped it would :)

I'd say the best lesson was the unusual attitude's lesson in the sim. Didn't roll or loop too badly!
