Question Admin/Moderator

What does a "new LinkBack" actually mean? Lately, I've been getting several emails in a row with the same message (such as the one below which came 11 times in a row - all at the same time?) yet when I click on it there's only 1 or maybe two new posts? Just curious what it all means?

A new LinkBack has been recorded for a thread you have participated entitled - Rejected T/O ATL Delta 777-200 - in the Major forum of Airline Pilot Central Forums.

Hey, thanks for the prompt reply moderator/admin!

I am not using the "contact" feature anymore because you haven't bothered to reply to my questions there either... In the meantime, pretty much every day I keep receiving this Linkback email whatever that means...

How about creating a permanent "Question to the Moderator/Admin" thread that you actually monitor?

Here's the latest Linkback email...

Like I said I get several of those a day and when I click on it no new messages had been posted???

AV8OR -

Settle down now.....I'm on the site many times each day and this is the FIRST time that I have ever seen your post. I know that you posted it on the 5th, and I'm sorry noone has gotten back to you yet. I'll take this post and put it in another forum that might get a quicker response ok.
Unfortunately - I don't know the answer to your question, but I will try and get you an answer.

Thank you, I used the contact link on the same day as I posted this thread... No response there either, that's why I vented...

Those Linkbacks are really annoying and I have no idea what purpose they serve as there seem to be no new posts when I click on them...

I'll get someone's attention if I have to send a PM to each admin/mod - so don't worry.
I've never had your problem - but I've never touched that button either! Sorry you're having problems with it. It certainly does sound annoying.

What do you think about a "Question to the Moderator/Admin" permanent forum?

I think you should just PM an admin. That would be HSLD or Freight Dog.

Just go to your CP and uncheck the send Email box.

I didn't explain very well what I am having problems with... I don't mind the regular emails telling me there's a new post on a thread I subscribed to, in fact, that's why I subscribe to a specific thread... However, I don't understand why I am now getting the regular email and then usually shortly thereafter an additional Linkback email (this all started a few weeks ago)...

For example here's a regular email telling me a new post has been added to a thread I subscribed to:

"Dear ...,

fedupbusdriver has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - FDX; what the future holds? - in the Cargo forum of Airline Pilot Central Forums.

This thread is located at:
http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/cargo/35644-fdx-what-future-holds-new-post.html"

...and less than an hour later I received an additional email with a Linkback for the very same thread....

"Dear ...,

http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/cargo/35644-fdx-what-future-holds.html#linkbacks"

So my question is why am I getting the linkback email when I got the regular email less than an hour earlier? Clear as mud?

Btw, I did PM the question to one of the mods...

This is off Wikipedia, I think it answers the original question:
A Linkback is a method for Web authors to obtain notifications when other authors link to one of their documents. This enables authors to keep track of who is linking to, or referring to their articles.
Linkback - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you scroll down to the bottom of http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/ma...777-200-a.html it shows all the websites that the page has been linked to, I believe thats what you are getting emails about. (And you may get a new one since I just linked to it )
