Any Cessna pilots flown a Diamond?
I'm hypothesizing with building a Cessna 172 with the same material as the Diamond aircraft (carbon composites), instead of metal. Same shape and everything; it'd look like any other C172.
What could I expect in the handling qualities and performance? Would it go faster? Would it be stronger/weaker? More/less costly? Any info on this would be appreciated.

Well, it depends on a lot of factors. Wing struts? How are the wing roots going to be farred? etc.
Incidentally, the rumor mill going around right now is that there is a "black" program at cessna that is creating a new high-wing aircraft along the lines of a 182 that can compete with Sirrus. My guess is that it will be something strikingly similiar to a Cardinal.
PS: Why would you want to go through the hassle of making a high-wing aircraft? You can save a lot of structural weight by going low-wing.
