This fellows sounds very above-board about his work, and he is not a fly-by-night repo man. The latter kind exists as well, and your plane is gone by daybreak when they send him out. It's really just authorized theft when a repo is done this way, and it is far more dangerous than the guy in the article because there is no inspection of the airplane and in some cases the airplane is not fully airworthy. It is a great subject for an inky shadows sort of crime novel but not that great a job. I would not want to be flying an illegal, unsafe airplane for whatever few hundred dollars the night repo man makes to get it. But it's all about risk management I suppose.
