Do you "wave"?
'Round these parts, everybody waves at each other. It's a "HEY" throwback from
Mayberry. This morning, it made me ponder; What is your waving protocol? Do you wave at ramp personnel, other pilots, little kids in the windows? Just wondered... This could be a photo thread.. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../8/1288843.jpg |
I wave........:D

Always wave, its polite, and shows professionalism....
|
Of course I wave . . . especially when it's a young kid, because I remember how much that meant to me :)
|
I wave to pilots, ground crew, kids, airport ops or anyone else while I'm in the plane. If I'm on the ground walking somewhere, I just nod though.

You got to wave! We are usually the big shiny jet at the airports we go to and we dont want to appear we are too cool when we taxi by a maule or a cirrus or something. A courtesy wave shows respect! And then we peel their paint off as we make the turn at the runup area :D

Yep
I dont just wave............I start the wave
 |
i like to wave! for some silly reason it makes me feel warm inside when i get a wave back. i think it's a simple but nice gesture, regardless of who you work for or what plane you fly. i could never understand the dudes that avert their gaze when walking through the terminal so they dont have to acknowledge you. seriously, what's up with that? i think phoenix is the most friendly airport i've ever been to. EVERY SINGLE airways pilot nods or smiles at you, and there are lots of them there! you just dont get that kind of friendliness in any of the east coast hubs. maybe it's something about the constant sunshine...

Uplifting thread. I've wondered who waves and who doesn't as well.
The regional guys usually wave to us Cessna and Piper drivers quite a bit. I like to wave at them, too. I think part of it is to get the pax, to see if they wave back. :D The corporate guys are so-so with waving. I only wave at other GA pilots on occasion. I should probably be better about that. :o Now as far as the technique of waving? A whole exposed palm, or just raise an index finger in the air? Maybe a surfer move with only pinky finger and thumb extended? A thumbs up? Decisions, decisions. |
