Seen from the U.S. perspective, perhaps. But the Iranians and people in the Arab world see it as just another act of U.S./European imperialism.

Imagine an Iranian missile cruiser in the Gulf of Mexico mistakenly shooting down a U.S. airliner because the airliner did not respond to radio warnings.

If one studies the history of U.S./European foreign policy vis a vis the Mideast over the past 100 years or so, one can gain some insight into why those people don't like us.
