Ted Kennedy passes
It takes a lot to earn the respect of a nation but regardless of political background Senator Kennedy will be missed and well respected. Too bad the many others can't show the dedication he did. I'm a republican through and through but still admired him.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a major figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died late on Tuesday, CNN said. He was 77.
One of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history -- a liberal standard-bearer who was also known as a consummate congressional dealmaker -- Kennedy had been battling brain cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2008.
Known as "Teddy," he was the brother of President John Kennedy, assassinated in 1963, Senator Robert Kennedy, fatally shot while campaigning for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination, and Joe Kennedy, a pilot killed in World War Two.

More History
They will also not mention he was expelled from Harvard for cheating (once for sure; possibly twice), or that his father got him a cushy post to SHAPE Headquarters in Paris during the Korean War. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Kennedy
Not flaming; just quoting published history.
Unfortunately, news coverage is about money and power. Michael Jackson was back-burner news until he died, because the media knew that there would be a fight over his estate, children, and music-rights.
Same with the Kennedy clan: money; political power.
Rarely is the importance accorded a person a function of their contributions to society or qualities as a person.

I find myself torn. Criticising not just the man, but the family (in general), or sympathetic for the many tragedies they suffered, or appreciative for the good things they did. Regardless, they will forever be a part of our history, like them or not.
That's pretty much the last of Camelot.
It's just a model.
