"President Obama will travel 3,979 miles to Denmark on Friday, Dec. 18, and Air Force One will emit an estimated 196 tons of carbon on that trip, said LimeGreen Earth, Inc., in a news release."
What's take-off weight of Air Force One?

196 tons is about 400,000#.
Fuel weight is mostly carbon (the hydrogen atoms have a weight of one, compared with 12 for the carbon).
If AF-1 burns around 450,000# of fuel on the round trip that might work out to 400,000# of carbon.

I told them to buy a 757 or 737/BBJ instead, and make the press fly commercial...they wouldn't listen...

Several documentaries on Air Force One said that they usually takeoff at max weight all the time. Besides the extra weight of the interior, they carry an entire supply of critical spare parts and they have to have enough fuel to fly to their destination, and then fly directly to a safe friendly country.
Before I heard that, I assumed they carried just a little more than a typical fuel load and would just refuel in the air if they had to leave a hostile area. The captain said that they have the capability to refuel in the air, but have never done so.
And I don’t think a 737 would work for the mission. The President needs a plane with a long range and a heavy payload to carry the extra parts and be able to get to safety in case they are attacked at the destination while on approach. At the other end of the extreme is the President of Mexico which uses a Caravan, and the President of Botswana who flew an ultra light!

The President no matter who he/she is, needs to stop taking so many trips.
If you only had a clue about how many Air Mobility Command missions that are generated, not to mention, all of the support that goes into moving the President. It is absolutely a tremendous waste of money.
Perhaps the President and other world leaders should look into Web Conferencing? Bonus, we get to actually watch and listen to what they say.

So aside from the carbon emitted from AF1, there is also the carbon from the press charter and the motorcade cargo aircraft. I wish the press would get it's facts straight.

No need to fret gentlemen, it has been made good by the purchase of grace from the church of climate religion. They seem to have overlooked the return trip and all of the support aircraft though.

Canadian Company Will ‘Offset’ Emissions From Obama’s Air Force One Flight to Copenhagen

A private Canadian company says it will plant 1,176 trees to offset the carbon emitted by Air Force One when it carries President Barack Obama to Copenhagen for the international climate conference.
President Obama will travel 3,979 miles to Denmark on Friday, Dec. 18, and Air Force One will emit an estimated 196 tons of carbon on that trip, said LimeGreen Earth, Inc., in a news release.
"By offsetting President Obama's carbon emission, we are setting a precedent for the global community," said the company’s president, Andrew Thomas. "It is up to every individual to do their part to eliminate carbon emissions. There is no one better to lead this revolution than the President of the United States of America."
The company says it applauds the global effort in Copenhagen to prevent further climate depreciation and to take steps to remedy the existing damage. “We believe that President Obama's leadership in Copenhagen will be imperative to achieving these goals,” the news release said.
LimeGreen Earth -- a privately held company based in Saint John, New Brunswick -- specializes in offsetting carbon emissions. Among other things, it offers several packages to make personal Internet usage “carbon neutral.”

The freakshow at Copenhagen is a trainwreck--corrupt scientists, ambitious internationalists, riots, even a blizzard. The senate contingent that was supposed to go over last week bailed--they gave their reasons but I maintain it was because they didn't want the stink of failure on them.
The pres is supposed to go there tonight. I said last week he wouldn't go--I am running out of time on that prediction, but I will stay with it.
Call me out tomorrow and I'll take my lumps.
