What is the most accesible, most dynamic, cost effective and useful online college degree to acquire and from which institution?

Get one from a real university, which also happens to offer distance learning.

That way no one will be able to tell by looking at your diploma whether you attended class or did it on the web. Some folks (especially older) will discount the value of an online degree, especially if it comes from a university-of-phoenix type operation.

Honest and meaningful accreditation is a must, check out this article from Wired to see where NOT to go.

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you going for Bachelors or Masters? University of Houston, good school, does both completely on-line if you want. Their prices are reasonable. I looked into getting my masters at a few places and UH was the best all around. I went through a list and several were over $20k a year for online!!!!

Give them a look and whatever you do DON'T GET SOMETHING AVIATION RELATED.

Edit- It should also be noted not to do searches for the "best online universities" etc. Some places specialize in that and that's all you'll find. A lot of universities are moving on-line so find a few near you or that you know of and contact them via email. You'd be surprised how many have those programs setup. My Baptist university even has one!

I'm assuming UH is University of Houston? I did 9 credit hours on campus and 6 online last semester and I didnt have any complaints with them either.

yes Houston. I'm not saying it's the best university in the world just that after seeing Penn state at $26k a year and the rest following not to far behind it was a great option.

Make sure it's accredited, otherwise it won't matter which one. Unless it's ERAU then you don't have to interview.

I was originally looking into Pheonix, but then realized that there were times when I would have to be online during set hours to take part of online discusions. Also I would have to hand in exams in person. My problem is that i'm based in C. America and the lay-overs in MIA are short. I need something that is a true online course. I'll look into the UH program, but would you guys know if it's kind of what I was describing with Pheonix?

As far as I know it depends on the class. I did one hybrid class that was online at a set time on Monday and Wednesday, and met at UH on Fridays for an hour. The other class was purely online at set times and we did tests thru the UH website.
