WWII era weapons are neat. It's interesting to see the differences in the various countries. German guns were very well made compared to the American models (ever seen a grease gun?). However, in the end they couldn't keep up with our industrial might.

The Japaneese had some wild designs and they came in a rediculous number of different calibers. Many experts consider that, and their use of unsealed rounds (ours were coated to prevent corrosion) to be two of the biggest reasons they lost the war.

History has a great series which I belive is called "The History of the Gun". It was made back in the 90s but every now and then they show it. Well worth it if you're even moderately interested in firearms.

Any of you guys practical shooters? I am an Englishman living in Georgia and it looks like an insane amount of fun! I'd love to know how to get involved and run the course!

Awww, but you are forgetting about the M1 Garand. Very well made and credited with much. Germans had bolt action infantry rifles in the emerging era of semi-autos.

My uncle owns both a Garand and a Carbine. I don't know which one I like shooting more. The sound of that bandolier coming out is just cool. Fine guns that won the war.
