What, no one's heard of getting vectors?
With the advent of hand held GPS boxes it was amazing how many ASA ATR pilots you'd hear asking for 097 degrees, direct to Myrtle Beach from Atlanta, and getting it

Navy -9's
Get a vector and pray! I fly the Navy C-9B's and I'm lucky they paid for some glass upgrades, decent A/P and a great GPS. The -9 is a great airplane, and I'm certainly grateful to the U.S. taxpayers for their financial sacrifices, so that I don't have to sh#&t my pants when I get an ATC clearance to the DOOFY intersection for holding.

At least they kept the spoiler handle thingy the same, but I'm disappointed they switched to some new age flap handle. I like the MD-88 flap handle. Its briliant and cool. Just like FTB.
Although my buddy called me when we were switching from the 767 to 88 to say he was in the FTD/CAPT trainer in the Delta training center and he could get the handle to move. He said it sucked. I said I'll take a look. I tried. It sucked. All through that first week it still sucked. Then someone showed us the simple beauty of operating the flap handle and I was amazed. I'm easily amazed. But I thought, now that, that is cool.
Something about the DC-9 family that just sucks you in.
