Whatever happened to letting the consumer decide what they want to pay?

Look at Ryannair across the pond charging for the lav. Something tells me their maintenance costs are going rise as there will be a lot of seat covers to change! HA!

First off, the funding for the running of the national airspace system is thru ticket taxes. All of the other fees (preferred seating, checked bag, uc minor, etc) are not taxed. What concerns congress is that if you went to a European LCC model, the tax revenues would drop. It's a simple fix to tax all fees charged by the airlines. That way, a passenger on Delta pays the same tax as a passenger on Spirit.

Helmet? I can just hear the FA now. "Sir, if you don't put in back on right now, I'll have to charge you $45"

As for the socialist fears, I like paying taxes. There's some comforting about knowing that the streets are paved, there's an airport to land at, a police and fire department to protect my loved ones and a kick ass military to make sure no one mistakes compassion for weakness.

Default Stop nickel and dimeing us.

Ryanair floated the idea of charging to use the lavs but backed off.
I hate having to pay for checking in a bag, as a result when I travel domestically I use JetBlue. I just wrote Delta voicing my complaints about being mishandled on a first class ticket and having to pay for my bags on a Y ticket , their response to my complaint was to give me bonus miles on my frequent flyer program. I guess they want my business back as I pay full fare when I come home from my Middle East gig.

I think The regime in congress ought to be spending more time on fighting these restaurants that have been increasing their drink costs by 200%. For over 10 years Cicis pizza has been $4, but you end up paying $6 after a drink! A drink?!? They're gouging. Same with Applebees, hamburger 10-15 years ago was $7, same as today but now it's like $2 not $1 for a drink with unlimited refills. That's bs.

What politicians can't seem to wrap their heads around, is you can't tax a product or business practice to punish. They just pass it on to the consumer. So Spirit charges for a carry on, Congress taxes that fee, Spirit passes that expense on to the consumer. Now their double f'd.

Thanks Congress, keep living up to the joke of being the opposite of Progress.

Fire them all.
