Financing to Start a Radio Station
#1
Conducting the due diligence to start an AM radio station with repeater carriers to ensure the signal is nationwide up to the flight levels. It would be called KPLT, 1380AM playing new, alt rock on the weekends, and holidays, classic rock Tuesday thru Thursday, Jazz and some blues in the evenings, maybe do a market test to see what the midnight cowboy-cargo haulers want, intermixed with a talk radio and a news hour or two in the morning and afternoon. The advertisements would be for truck dealerships, divorce, real estate and bankruptcy attorneys, Rogain, Propecia, and Viagra and an assortment of small arms dealers.

I don't think you'll get too far. There aren't any "clear channel" frequencies (not the company, the 500,000 watt AM stations like WCCO and WBAP) left. Just googling 1380 AM, there are at least three stations already asigned 1380 you'd have to buy out. Normal starting price for a radio station was 5x the yearly earning, at least that was the formula 20 years ago.
