Default Flying Alaska

I believe the show premieres tonight @ 9 on discovery!

From the previews it looks like it will be a first hand look at some of the most intense flying that single engine light aircrafts are capable of

I watched 3 episodes of Alaska Wing Men and walked away a bit disappointed.

There was a very little bit of stuff that a pilot would be interested in with a LOT of "human element" stuff. Sick child, stranded campers etc.

It was ok, there are certainly worse things to watch on TV, but it wasn't fantastic.

On the other hand, Ice Pilots NWT that I watched via proxy was fantastic.

Hopefully Flying Alaska turns out to be a good show.

Not sure if I liked it, or not. Kinda slow paced and lots of jumping around in an attempt to be "Deadliest Catchish". I guess I'll watch a few episodes to see if it gets better.

Agreed. It was nice to see some general aviation related material on Discovery for once, but I'm not sure how much staying power it has. The usual embellishment on part of the announcer is always annoying...

Here's hoping that future episodes are a little better.

I agree and half the show is either recapping whats already happened when returning from commercial and giving you previews of things to come when they go to commercial.

Ice Pilots NWT is a focus on Buffalo Airways out of Yellowknife, looked
pretty good on the previews, round engines and cold weather ops. I've
only seen the previews on History.CA, just curious what server carries the entire series?

I saw the program last night. It was pretty good IMHO. It will be curious to see how the later episodes go.

.
They really need some help on their editing too. Otters turn into Beavers and turbine Otters with recip sound tracks, etc.
