I personally know (and have flown with) a major airline pilot who has a hippy ponytail down to his belt. He ALWAYS wears his uniform hat outside the cockpit. Apparently everybody in the training dept knows why he wears full uniform to recurrent

But you would never know by looking at him, so he maintains his professional demeanor.

Super-long hippy-hair, not so much.
Longer than super-short, but still not to the shoulders long, doesn't seem too bad
Agreed. Longish hair can present just as professional of an appearance as a close cropped buzzcut.

Somewhat of a flamebait question really, doesn't matter a whit what we think. Only matters what the man/woman who hires you thinks.
Our FOM specifies our grooming standards (and it leans heavily on military precedent as most companies)
As pointed out, wear what you want and don't complain about the results.
Will grow my hair long after I retire

Most pilots I know are bald anyway.

Fly the freakin' plane and practice proper hygiene. Grow you hair as long as you want.

I say skip the facial hair for the O2 masks.

Please post a link to the FOM of most of the companies. Either that, or at least attest that you have read the FOM's of most companies.
