Default Things to do in Alaska other than fly fish

Last year I went to Alaska and did a fishing trip and had an absolute blast. This year I'm bringing the Mrs. and wanted to know if you guys had any input on sights to see and places to stay. I know Denali is a pretty popular place and is already on the list. We're flying into ANC in June and renting a car and will most likely go tent camping and fishing for a couple days in the Mat-Su valley followed by a couple days in a hotel. I think the plan is 6 days or so in Alaska and we don't have a ton of money to spend. (any good fly fishing spots would be appreciated too, last year I fished just south of Talkeetna) Thanks!

Aialik bay kayak trip out of Seward.
It was a bit pricey, but worth it for me and my wife. (looks as if the price has gone up too. )

Even the water taxi out and back was enjoyable with lots of wildlife to see.

Zero complaints from this company.

(jeez, that's gone up a bit in price too)

Good source for fishing info
Sport Fishing Information, Alaska Department of Fish and Game

If it's raining (just kidding it never rains in Alaska) here's some things to do in anchorage.

Check out the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. I just tried to go to their web page and it's been hacked. Try it again in a week or so.

On your road trip:

Denali State Park, camp, go hiking, rent a canoe on Byers Lake.
Denali State Park

Go for a Glacier landing flight on Denali. Very expensive but I've never had anyone say that it wasn't worth every penny.

Go river rafting in Talkeetna

If you can't afford to get a float rating at least go for a flight in a float plane and do a few splash and dash (touch and go on the water) It's a hoot!

Have fun, don't forget the bug dope. If some says "Lets drink till it gets dark" DON'T DO IT!

You can rent bikes in downtown ANC and take a scenic ride along the Cook Inlet.

Default Denali Highway

One of my favorite things to do is to drive the Denali highway.

Denali Highway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Great scenery, awesome campgrounds and a deep sense of being in the deep wilderness.

I want to go too !! Any room in the back seat for one more?

I Agree with rafting in talkeetna. Also rafting on the kenai river was a blast. You can also go on a one day glacier cruise in Seward and see whales and walruses and glaciers
