I know you are brand new to the 121 world and are excited so let me give you a free tip. You do not want to be that guy walking around with a brand new flight case covered in stickers that really aren't unique to any experience and just there because you wanted to sticker up your bag.

Usually guys put stickers on their bag (if any) during the course of their career and the stickers have some meaning or reference to them, not just some cool PanAm sticker that you found a reprint of during your last trip to World Market.

Not trying to be a jerk but just something to think about. I would honestly laugh if I saw a newbie walking down the terminal with a brand new bag plastered with stickers just as new as the pilot.

Again, just trying to be honest...

You could always scuff up your bag a little first

Stickers are a right of passage.

Sure, you can put a sticker of the first airline you ever flew on or the one daddy worked for, but other than that, you gotta live it.

Kinda like putting a 1% patch or a Banditos logo on your motorcycle jacket. No, pilots won't beat the tar out of you like the bikers might, but it won't win you any friends.

Stickers are "earned" by what you do and where you go. For example, we picketed wall street and the union made stickers for those who picketed. Or, I went to the Jet Lag club in Narita and they gave me a sticker. I also have four Boeing stickers for my four Boeing type ratings.

This thread brings back an interesting memory. Shortly after 9/11 when a lot of us were furloughed from the majors we worked for, many of us went back to the commuters. In my case, Comair.

Flight case stickers were one way that we could recognize others who were in the same boat and share that common bond. So I was walking down the hall one day when a guy walked up next to me with a flight bag that had a 747 sticker on it. I asked him, "So who did you fly the 747 for?"

"I didn't fly it."

"Oh, I saw the sticker on your bag and just assumed"

"No, I just think they're cool"

"Oh.. ok"

I agree with the poster above who said that your stickers should be reflective of your own life experiences and personality.

I agree with some of the guys on here about sporting only stickers which rep something you have lived. However, for those of us who have only lived one airliner and possibly a furlough, you can fill the rest of your bag with funny, albeit in good taste, stickers
