Cessna 210's
 

Has anybody had experience in one? If so how did you like it, i hear they are pretty fast for a cessna single!

I took my commercial in a 210. It was fairly quick and had a good load capacity. It was my first "crankin" airplane, and I really liked it.
It has HYD. Gear that can be problematic if not maintained. Many people take the gear doors off as they add noting but looks and complexity.

Use to own a '78 P210. It was a great plane. Not only did it go fast up high, but you could put alot of stuff in it. Can't remember what year it was but Cessna took the doors off cause they caused some problems. Mine didnt have them.
Unfortunatly insurance became too much, and had to get rid of it, well that and I got into motorcycle racing and didnt fly it enough. And you just shouldnt do that to an airplane.
Anyways its a great plane and I wish everyday that I had it back. It would make it much easier to escape OK, but oh well thats another story.

Loved that airplane. I flew one with a dynamically balanced prop and engine. It was (as Caneman would say) Smoooooth. I don't remember the speed though. Doesn't it go about 200 Kts?

I pulled out my old 1971 Centurion "Owners Manual" which is all of a quarter inch thick. This airplane was not turbocharged.

From the cruise performance tables:

7500ft.= 2400 RPM, 23inMP, (68%BHP) TAS (mph) 179, 85PPH; at 384lbs fuel endurance is 4.5 hours 805NM; at 534lbs fuel 6.3 hours and 1120NM

12,500 ft.= 2400RPM, 19inMP (57% BHP) TAS (mph) 173; 73 PPH; 5.3 hours and 910 nm with 384 lbs fuel ;and 7.3 hours and 1265 nm topped off.

179 mph true is 156 ktas. I think I saw 160ktas, but it has been a long time ago.

I think we ran the airplane at 2400 RPM, but maybe 2500. The IO 520 will give you 300 HP for 5 minutes at 2850 RPM. Max. continuous is 285 HP at 2700 RPM.

The airplane I flew could be topped off and still carry 995 lbs!! If you kept the fuel at 384lbs, you could carry 1135lbs!!!!!! While a Bonanza is a great airplane, it does not have an actual baggage area like the 210 does. It has a door to the outside, and can hold 120 lbs.

There used to be a turbo 210 with a Robertson STOL kit based at my airport. It had stall fences and flaperons. It freaking jumped off the ground.

The only problem I've heard of is the gear...don't cycle it constantly, hoepfully you won't be doing touch 'n gos though. A friend of mine blew a line when an instructor made him cycle the gear every touch 'n go. It was the older style gear(not sure what years).

Yeah I heard that too. We only 1 problem, but it wasnt with the recycling, it was a bad switch that didnt fully engage to indicate the gear was down, even though it was down. That was after several years of owning it and flying the snot out of it.

Anyone ever take up a caravan? That's a nice piece of fiberglass/composite mterials!

Caravans are metal sans the tips of the wings and tail. The radome as well. Do you mean a Cirrus?
