Default Netflix introduces Qwikster

Netflix spins DVD rentals into new business dubbed Qwikster

Hmm... I wonder why the split... but Mr. Hastings says they are now going to offer video games as well. Maybe they realized GameFly was making a killing without any competition.

I think they are doing it so that they can split the streaming and mail order fees and have two customer bases. When they raised thier fees recently they lost a lot of customers and the stock took a big hit. Now they will be able to get one fee for mail order and a different fee for streaming so it keeps thier customer base happy.

Look for Qwikster to be spun off/sold in the future.

Look for the USPS to kill it completely. They will be down to 3 days a week delivery to stay alive. I just cancelled the DVD portion. I am not logging in to 2 different websites. What's next for Netflix?...... New Coke perhaps?

Netflix use to be the deal. Now I just stop by Redbox or better yet go on MovieBerry dot com and watch movies on my computer hooked to the TV for $.50 Netflix lost my business a couple of years ago.

The N-F price raise was a nuisance for sure, and made me think hard about what to give up. But I still value having dvds mailed here every week. I doubt I am going to keep both types of media now they have made them separate deals. And yes, I bet the dvd side gets sold soon, they are apparently losing money on it.
