I'm going to guess before I google it - C, Patrick Moore, final answer. ;)

EDIT: I guessed correctly. However, it wasn't much of a guess, rather, the seemingly natural evolution of every activist organization. The original members are edged out by the extremists - MADD is another good example. Many of the "fringe" activist groups began with reasonable positions and agendas.

Moore apparently just said this recently too. Here's one of the articles:

contributing to it in addition to supporting a carbon tax

An energy company thinks they can make some more money by gaming the system. Next you are going to tell me GE favors increased regulation in the energy sector, health insurance companies want more regulation in the insurance industry and Goldman Sachs favors increased regulation in the banking sector. The whole point of crony capitalism is to decrease competition by forcing the little guy out and eliminate startups.

I hope those climate scientist don't believe in the 2nd Amendment in case they are right about moving to the mountains, I might need a place to crash.

What proof do you have that had the government not stepped in and done anything that civilization would have come to an end around 1995-2000?

What did the government do to reverse global cooling and the coming ice age that was a near certainty? Did the governments actions over correct and are now responsible for global warming?

I don't know what is worse; blaming everything bad that has happened on Bush, republicans, capitalism, and the free market, or your only answer to anything is more government to fix all of our problems. It is very sad and very comical at the same time.

Critical thinking is not your forte. Exxon/Mobile did so because they can game the system for political tax dollars and tax breaks. This is exactly the same scenario with many of these doomsayer collegiate professors.

It is in the professors' and colleges' financial best interest if the professors stay out of the classroom and in the research labs making money, raking in those research tax dollars. The more money they bring in, the more they can advertise, some would say brag, to future students.

Professors are now making excuses saying they can't relate to individuals who lack basic concepts in their field of study; therefore, delegating the teaching responsibility to others while they can conduct research and crank out the research grants/tax dollars. In fact, in recent years, this trend has accelerated. Even schools who were known for having professors teaching are now giving in to this trend.

If you want to get to the truth, follow the money.

There is nothing like those good old research tax dollars and research grants (federal govt. handouts) to motivate folks to crank out predictions no matter how biased and outlandish. The bolder the predictions, the more attention and more tax dollars/grant money that comes flowing in.

Those of us who garden have noticed growing seasons and hardiness zones creeping north. It can also be seen in the spawning habits of fish and the migratory patterns
of birds. The oceans are getting so acidic in some areas due to carbon absorption, crustacean shells and corral are dissolving. Insects like boring beetles, mosquitoes
and ticks are starting to survive the winters at northern latitudes where they didn't before.

The media should be asking climate change deniers if the birds, fish, plants, insects
and crustaceans are in on the world-wide conspiracy to justify government funding
for climate science.

There isn't an educated nation on the planet that wouldn't laugh climate cranks like
Roy Spencer or James Inhofe off the public stage.
