Or somewhere in between -- its not either play games climbing out of 10k to descending out of 10k vs. OMG I HAVE TO WATCH THE INSTRUMENTS ALL THE TIME IN COMPLETE SILENCE!!!! No need for hyperbole
IMHO, it doesnt hurt to find some way to keep your mind occupied in the flight deck, but you might want to think before you post. Seriously, as several ppl have already said, how difficult is it to just say playing games "on deadheads" or "between flights" rather than "while I'm flying". Think before you speak, just like you do before you make a PA (most of the time)
On a side note, some ppl on this thread need to get past the whole High School popularity contest thing. I mean seriously if you're hating on people on this forum who have a problem with using PED's in the flight deck...oh well, that's the job you signed up for. Just do your job, man up, and quit whining about being bored. Playing games in the flight deck is not a right or entitlement, even a privilege...in fact it's illegal. If you do it, be glad for every day you don't get caught. FWIW, I don't play video games in flight, if the guy on the other side of the thrust levers does, I don't care as long as it doesn't become a distraction or is done below FL180
Take it from a guy who got a warning letter from the FAA for using a camera in flight, and now has to explain that at an interview for a major
Pretty embarrassing
