All the safety (real) pilots were ex military and the ops were run that way. I would surmise that they also flew for DAL. My safety flew A-10s - call sign Grumpy. I think my adversary "Juan Paublo" flew F15s.

I was a 0 time pilot and was amazed at how when I flew, the quick onset of 5.5 Gs made the world go grey, but when Grumpy demo'd it was blended (and probably coordinated) such that the G load was not as bad.

Pretty much what I thought it would be.
Jeez though! T-34A's!!!

5 g's is 5 g's - the only difference is onset and how well prepared you are to handle that onset. Everyone has a different resting g tolerance too and it could change day by day. G tolerance is also built over time and exposure.

The FAQ at L-39 Enthusiasts has a fairly descriptive summary of the authorization required to obtain an L-39 rating:

FAQ | L-39 Enthusiasts

Another good source of surplus military turbine powered aircraft (SMTPA) information is the Classic Jet Aircraft Association (CJAA). Their FAQ is at:

FAQ | Classic Jet Aircraft Association

By the way, there are 250+ L-39s registered in the United States and over 1,200 Classic Jets with "N" registrations.
