What would you guys do in the current "buyers market". There are hundreds of homes for sale.

How much money is saved by building via hiring a builder, aka "ABC Homes".....or yourself hiring the subcontractors, etc etc and you acting as your own builder. Is this a huge pain in a** ? Remember I am a pilot and on the road alot.

Home will be the one to retire in, I am not selling it two years later. Although I do want maximum investment/resale potential possible.

Thanks
My parents built two houses in the past.
One of the things they mentioned was having to be there constantly to check on the progress. One time the builders were putting the whole fireplace in the wrong corner of the room!
If you are the type (or someone in the family if there is one) that likes to be involved in every little detail of the building and choosing of the materials and such then I'd think that building might be a good choice. I got in at about the 75% complete point on my current house and I was glad I was involved a little but I have no desire personally to build a home from scratch.
DFW ought to be a good area to buy or build though. Good luck SatPak.

I did both. I bought, then I rebuilt it, or in the process of it anyway.

I actually look forward to going to work for the rest.

Not for nothing, I have my own preferred customer parking spot at Home Depot. I'm even at Platinum Status on my Home Depot Credit Card.
