I just got back from Taos, New Mexico. Good size mountain that is never crowded. They have a nice terrain park, downhill race course and if you are really good they have a ton of nice double diamonds. Wolf Creek, Colorado is also a great place that always has a ton of snow and a really fun bowl area that doesn't really have marked trails, you just kind of pick your way through the trees. It is also very spread out, is never busy and the price is right. If you have never been to either one, I highly recommend both!

I don't think anyone can beat this deal. Use your favorite search engine, and type in "park city quick start". This is a program that lets you use your boarding pass for a day lift ticket. They don't need to know you fly free. There a few caveats. Make sure to read the rules.

Grand Targhee in WY. On the back side of the Tetons, fantastic western mountain, rarely crowded, very reasonable rates for tickets and lodging. The village is big enough but not too big. You can drive to Jackson Hole or Teton Village if you want more nightlife.

Thanks everyone.
I have been to a handful of resorts in Utah, some New York areas, and Whistler/Blackcomb. Looks like I need to head to Wolf Creek, Co and Grand Targhee, WY.
Anyone use the ID90 site or other airline based sites to find deals? Just curious if they have anything useful on them

Well, I'm a little biased since it's local to me, but Mt. Baker is definitely one of the best kept secrets in this area.
Very little in the way of straight-cut ski runs, rather most of the trails use the terrain and flow really nicely through the mountain. Tons of great back-country if you're into that, and plenty of powder spots inbounds if you're not.
Prices aren't as expensive as other places either, looks like about $52 on a weekend, $46 I think on weekdays.

The Mount Baker downhill ski area achieved the world's record for receiving the most snow in one year when 1140 inches, or 95 feet, (2896 cm) landed between July 1, 1998 and June 30, 1999.

Will a Ski Boot bag (one that hold boots, helmet, etc) fit in the overhead? I have sportubes (hard cases) for the skis so I will check those since it's free on SWA. Planning a first time family ski trip and I'm looking for some packing tips.
