FFDO, Thing of the Past ?

I guess the program doesn't cost enough. Better to turn over all the security to the well trained and highly educated masses at TSA.

How many assailants have FFDO's shot since the program began?

Ottopilot 02-15-2012 05:21 PM

The same number as the FAM's.

Really, this is your argument? What if there were FAM's or FFDO's on the 9/11 flights? I'd rather be proactive than reactive. I'll live longer.

Weekend workshops aimed at training a small number of pilots to carry light sidearms couldn't be very much of a cash outlay, could it? Doesn't seem like a very good way to save money.

To bad they don't just start paying the FFDOs. Add to the number of jobs saved or created

Consider this evidence that the Obama Administration would be more happy to rely on intrusive screening procedures being applied to toddlers, the elderly, and Senators, rather than pilots with guns to provide a last line of defense to aviation terrorism.

If those of use who served, had high level clearances, flew for years prior to 9/11, still fly today, and have never had anything more than a speeding ticket get screened, those boys and girls whose only credentials are a majority of votes sure as heck-fire better be checked!

If those elected officials get any more equal than the rest of us, it will be time to take up arms.

Ain't that the truth. Work-fare employees make better voters.

Good riddance to the FFDO program. All it ever did was allow a bunch of John Wayne wannabes the authority to carry guns and bypass security. Now that the KCM program is in place, even that perk is gone.

The FFDO program did not stop even ONE inflight disturbance. A total waste of time. We're very fortunate only ONE aircraft was damaged by "friendly fire" from the CA seat and that the no innocent crewmembers were injured.

If you were smart enough to read, you'd see that the program is not gone. The funding was reduced. FFDO's do not deal with inflight disturbances, they are a last defense of the cockpit in a terrorist/hijacking senerio. It's not about bypassing security. We don't bypass it, just use a different entry. It takes longer anyway.

The idiot who shot a hole in his airbus violated 3 SOP's to do it. Many soldiers are idiots. Many cops are idiots. Many pilots are idiots. So what? It is still a good program. Personnally, I'd like John Wayne in my cockpit in another hijacking attempt. ;)

Please provide evidence that it did not stop one in flight disturbance. Do you have nsight into Al Queda planning cells?
