That's pretty uptight and judgmental, rather tool-ish actually. Lighten up Francis. Not everyone is ashamed of their uniform like you seem to be.

Not wearing it where it's out of place, obnoxious, and unnecessary, for the sole purpose of seeking attention =/= "ashamed"

Like when getting groceries on the way to/from work? Again, lighten up Francis.

So you go into the liquor store in full uniform including company ID with your name on it? If not, don't wear your uniform to the grocery store either. Putting a fleece over your stripes takes doesn't take more than a second.
Or just lighten up Francis. Company policy certainly covers the difference between going to a bar or liquor store and going to a grocery store (or gas station, or any number of other places to-from work) and that's more than good enough for me. Your priorities are whack, and really it does sound like you're ashamed of your work attire, or maybe just excessively self-absorbed. Nobody cares if they see you in your uniform somewhere other than the airport. Really, they don't. Your kid's school? Don't care. Hockey rink or soccer field because your commute home gets you back right when your kid's game starts? Nobody cares. Grocery store because your wife is watching the kids and it's getting late but she really needs something for dinner? Nobody cares. Pro tip - it's just clothing and you can wear it anywhere your company doesn't explicitly forbid, so consider getting help overcoming your hangups or at least don't project them on others like you're passing down the word of god. |

Wow man, someone really fouled up your perspectives on a lot of things. By your reasoning, maybe you shouldn't wear your uniform to work since they serve booze on the flight.

My god you have missed the point be a mile. A crabbing boat is not on the way home from a commute. This is attention seeking behavior, nothing more, nothing less.

When I worked in Europe we would have our crewmeal in the airport restaurant, and if after duty it would include wine/beer in full uniform in full view of the passengers and nobody would think anything of it. I am definitely not hung up on the uniform, I just happen to think that there is a few of us that use it as an extension piece. I have worn (different) uniforms since 1990, and I know nobody else cares.
