I am a finance/communications professional seriously contemplating a career as an airline pilot with either the airlines or the armed forces. Although I do a lot of reading and research on nuances of becoming a professional pilot, I have no clues as how I might start this journey. I am one of those people who like to accumulate as much information and make an informed decision before getting into something. This is all the more serious with aviation where I have to fork out $45-$70K to get the technical skills and licenses, and then proceed to live a life for the next ten years on a pay cheque that amounts to same when I was working part-time through my college years. I am really nervous about this whole ordeal, and would love to meet all possible professionals who would love to lend a helping hand with advice, pointers, contacts etc and assist me in my pursuit of a piloting career. This is my sole objective of joining this forum.
