The State Fair of Texas turned into Burning Man. Big Tex, the 52 foot statue of a cowboy that greets visitors at the fair, caught fire and burned to his frame.

I was headed out the door when I posted. He was carted out by 1:30 when we got there. The fried jumbalia is pretty good, I passed on the fried butter.

Deep fried butter? On a stick? seriously?

with powdered sugar on it.

The fried bacon is good.

I was out of tickets when I saw the Chicken Fried Bacon. There's always next year.

It's a big deal with the vendors to see who can come up with the most outrageous item to fry. It was a couple years ago when they came out with fried beer.
