Edit the post and replace it with "delted" or some sort. You can't delete the thread yourself though. So do what usmc-sgt advises.

I'll make this public so others can learn.

We (mods) typically (almost never) delete a thread like yours.

Here are a few reasons:

1: it's almost 3 weeks old! Where have you been?
2: You asked an honest question and got many replies.
3: This thread may help a future student (see number 2)
4: It does not violate the TOS or negatively incriminate you for any reason.

There are more but you get the idea.

Geez, feel like we're trying to get an OPR/EPR past the admin types in the wing...

You can do this shortly after making the post to allow for edits and typos, but after a period of time (a few hours I think) the edit feature is disabled to prevent people from "revising history".

We will delete posts if there is a very good reason for it, but this would usually involve some unusual circumstances. Realizing your post was tool-ish after you get flamed is not a good reason.

A situation where employers or potential employers (or the FAA) might ID you and hold it against you is about the only time I've removed posts.

We'll also consider responses to your original post...if other users have built a discussion based on your post we generally won't delete it unless the responses were informational as opposed to discussion (ie load factors for last night or something like that).

Let's remove the parentheses and see what we get:

"We typically delete a thread like yours."

But then you went on to give reasons why you wouldn't delete his thread which is confusing unless you meant to say what USMCFLYR alluded to:

"We typically DO NOT delete a thread like yours."

This sentence jives with the perceived intent, especially give your parenthetical additions, unless, of course, you meant to say:

"We typically (almost) never delete a thread like yours."

If that's the case, we have learned how incorrect placement of a parentheses can cause confusion. Also, one final modifier to the whole sentence as a whole which I feel brings it all together in an intelligible manner:

"We, the Mods, typically (almost) never delete a thread like yours."

And now I'm just nitpicking, but a better word for "typically" might be "normally" or "ordinarily."
