I think this may be a fixed-wing forum only, not sure.....
I was wondering what ever became of the PHI contract??
I just moved to Lafayette, LA, and the guys were still striking a few weeks ago. Just curious??

Hey, thanks for the post LAff; no, I'm not even rated in helos. My roomate used to fly for them before the strike, but she quit, and I was just wondering what kind of deal those guys wound up getting. I just started working here in the area about two months ago, and I'm sticking with this gig for a while!

...Those guys that stayed will be well taken care of - at least for now. Many of the senior guys are clearing 12.5K a month. Most are averaging 8K a month. Starting pay will be in the 55K-60K range going to max out at 95K for a 7/7 at 15 years for a small ship Captain.
Good luck and have fun in Lafayette. Try Pimon Thai if you haven't already. My roommate from the AF owns / runs it...Good food...

KLFTs a awesome town. If you like food / beer / ladies you'll have a good time.
Pimon Thai
Tsunami (downtown) - sushi bar downtown on Jefferson.
Of course, there are also a large number of good place on Amb Caffery between the Acadian Mall and K. Saloon Rd.
Jefferson St. on Friday / Saturday night is always fun.
In April they have Festival International. I try to go every year if I can.
UL has a really good art / music / international movie scene
If your new to town its easy to dismiss it as a boring , southern hick place and not see / experience Cajun culture / heritage. If you make the effort and get out you'll have a good time.
Who do you work for out there?

Hey!
I'm from a southern hick town , and I've already noticed that Lafayette is much different. It's just finding the time to get to all these cool places.
I work for one of the car dealerships in town that has a bird based at Fournet. It is really turning out to be a great gig. I had a horrible job back home ( Gulf Shores, AL) so this is a huge change for me.
I tried to get a good job in Mobile but it just never panned out. I wasn't part of the "us 4 and no more good ol' boys " I reckon.
Anyway, where do you fly?

I don't fly for anyone. PPL - but its too expensive to burn holes and not get paid so I'm doing nothing till I retire from the AF in 8 years. Stationed at NASA HQ in DC working on computers/networks.
Sounds like you found a good job - I didn't know the dealerships had any planes out there...
