Social Media

Always assume that somebody at work that you don't want to read your posts are actually reading them. Be very careful when it comes to social media. Topics such as religion, politics or even something stupid that you did at work can quickly get you into the Chief Pilot's office, explaining the post that they saw on your social media accounts.
First step is not to say something very stupid or against your company's policies regarding social media. Secondly, be very careful on who you are friends with on Facebook or other social media accounts. Make sure your privacy settings are set to their strictest setting, and even then be careful. Friends of your friends might be able to see what you post. Finally, don't friend any management personal. Nothing turns out good with that scenario.

I read somewhere that these days, all major Fortune 500 level type companies check. Have a professional Facebook, Linkedin pic, not one with your shirt off on the beach surrounded by beer cans and bikinis, or the one of you at the range shooting your AK-47
I recently spent $150 for a "professional portrait" from a well reputed photographer in my town, suit and tie, he had all sorts of special lighting/etc in his studio, plus he had some sort of software (pro level) that touched the pics up. That is my linkedin, "send us a pic please" picture when needed.
You can get the $20 package at Sears Portrait studio also, but I believed my $150 was "the cost of doing business" and I had no issues with it. Again, private studio, professional well known photographer in major metro area.
Good Luck. Oh, and absolutely Do NOT, DO NOT, post ANYTHING about your employer, on the internet. Free speech, blah blah, yes I understand, but folks are getting fired left and right for doing just that. Just don't do it.
