Skydive Chelan - Home

Has anyone jumped out of a perfectly good airplane with these people?

Is the cost posted reasonable?

A quick nationwide search found tandem prices from $180-260 for a first time, single jumper. Most were in the $200-220 range. There were lots of chances for discounts: groups, military, and weekday (one place weekdays were $50 less than weekends). Prices of the up sells (pics and videos) were all over the map! Maybe you could do a little haggling (you are a moderator for a major flying website).

Default Groupon

We did a groupon and the jump was about 190 IIRC. We did pay extra for the video/still. It was one price - it's the same guy taking video and the stills. Pretty cool setup - gopro and still camera helmet mounted. I guess the GoPro ran continuously or he could start/stop with a switch. The stills were taken by him blowing into a mouth tube.

They did an "interview" while we were suiting up, during the climb and after the jump. The best part was the video during the dive. Surprisingly, there was no sensation of falling.

You'll have a blast!

edit: This was Chester, SC

I would go on NTSB and search what incidents they have if any in the database. Use the home field as the search query, or use some combination of queries. While skydiving with pros is pretty safe, it still has one of the highest fatality rates in flying probably because it is an adrenaline sport and the excitement leads to complacency. Most skydive centers have at least a few incidents in their past, usually broken bones and other fairly light injuries. Many also have one or more fatalities behind them, the old timers in the area will know what they are, as well as the NTSB database.

I have been at Chelan a dozen or more times since this company opened. Although I did not jump, I watched the action while getting fuel or tinkering at Willie's Shop. What I observed is a 182 takes you on the flight, which is a short one, over the River... jump to a grass area on East side of Rwy 20. I know the folks at Ritzville have been around longer...Fly in at S10 tomorrow

Thanks for all the comments. After consultation with His Lordship, we are going to Glacier national park instead. More staid but definitely safer. He wants another 27 years with me. Inexplicable.
